Tamworth is a thriving city with heaps of activities for any visitor to enjoy. The most popular of all of these is The Tamworth Country Music Festival. This annual event is the second-largest country music festival in the world and often brings in over 100,000 country music aficionados from all over Australia and the world. Rooms fill up months in advance of this event so anyone keen on attending should book well before the festivities begin in January.
Aside from this peak season, Tamworth remains Australia’s Country Music capital all year round and is home to a host of country-themed memorabilia including the 12-metre Golden Guitar. For the full cowboy experience, the Leconfield Jillaroo and Jackaroo School offers cattle mustering training or you can watch the experts from the sidelines at the National Professional Rodeo as well.
With a rich agricultural history, it’s no surprise that Tamworth can also boast scenic vineyards, olive groves and other farm-based attractions. These provide exquisite fresh ingredients that are served throughout the city’s premier restaurants and are on full display every April at the Taste Tamworth Festival.
Venture further from the city centre and you’ll find a nature lover’s paradise full of nature trails, fishing spots and more that you can enjoy at your leisure.
